Three-day annual Pavitrotsavams conclude on a grand note

The three-day annual event of Pavitrotsavams concluded on a grand not at Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala amidst religious fervour, here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief priest Sundaravaarada Bhabattacharyulu said, this festival is also known as purification festival. TTD celebrates Srivari Pavithrotsavam Festival on the days of Ekadasi, Dwadasi and Trayodasi in the month of Sravana(July/August) in every year. The festival is believed to have been conducted till 1562 A.D. after which the ritual was stopped. The ritual was revived again in the year 1962.

The significance of the festival is that priests symbolically seek the pardon of the Lord for their acts of all omissions and commissions committed either knowingly or unknowingly during the performance of rituals throughout the year to the presiding deity inside the temple.
