Tirupati is a smart city in Chittoor district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Tirupati is one of the prominent pilgrimage destinations in South India, which draws lakhs of visitors every year. The main tourist attraction in Tirupati is the Lord Venkateshwara Temple on Tirumala Hill. Besides this temple, there are various other places in Tirupati like Sri Govindrajaswamy Temple, Sri Kapileswaraswami Temple, Akasa Ganga, Goddess Alamelumanga Temple in Tiruchanur, Sila Thoranam, Chandragiri, Sri Kalahasti, Agastyaswamy Temple, Swami Pushkarni, Sri Vedanarayana Swamy Temple and Horsley Hills.
Telugu, Tamil and English are the main languages which are spoken in Tirupati. It is located at the foothills of the Eastern Ghats at a distance of 550 kilometres (340 mi) south of Hyderabad, the capital of the state, 250 kilometres (160 mi) east of Bangalore, and 150 kilometres (93 mi) north of Chennai.
