Karthika Vanabhojanam Festival observed with religious fervour

Thousands take part in Karthika vanamahotsavam in Tirumala on Sunday. The surrounding lush green forests nearby Paruveta Mandapam in Tirumala reverberated to the rhythmic melodious chanting of Pancha Suktas on Sunday during snapanam performed to deities in connection with Karthika Vanabhojanam.

The TTD has made elaborate arrangements for annaprasadam and water to scores of devotees who thronged the premises for Karthika Vanabhojanam, the traditional community dining which is considered to be most auspicious in the month of Karthika.

TTD JEO KS Sreenivasa Raju has commenced the serving of Annaprasadam to devotees in the Vanabhojanam. Speaking on the occasion, he said the festival was in vogue some 400 years ago and was reinstated from 2010 onwards.

The devotees who thronged the Nakshatra Vanam premises of Paruveta Mandapam enjoyed the delicacies served by Annaprasadam department underneath the Amla trees. The devotional songs by Annamacharya Project artistes remained as an added attraction for the religious event. 

The administration has cancelled – Kalyanotsavam, Unjal seva, Brahmotsavams, Vasanthotsavam and Sahasra deepalankara seva inside the temple.
