Jyestabhishekam to be performed from June 24 to June 26

A Three day traditional festival of Jyestabhisekam will be performed in the Srivari Temple as per annual ritual in the month of Jyesta month and end of Jyesta nakshatram.

The festival being conducted at the Kalyana mandapam within the Sampangi pranganam is also refered to as ‘Abhidyeyaka Abhisekham’.

The festival aimed at preservation of the age-old and archaic utsava idols of Lord Malayappa swamy from aging and other deficiancies. On Day-one the golden cover of the idols are removed and abhisekam and homas are performed to the utsava murthis with panchamruta snapana thirumanjanam and taken out in procession after giving it a diamond body cover. On Day 2 the idols are covered in cover made of pearls and on Day-3 the idols are once again adorned with gold cover. The goldcover is replaced again next year when the Jyestabhisekam is performed.

TTD has cancelled all the arjita sevas in the Srivari temple from June 24- Vasantotsavam, Vishesha puja on June 25 and Vasantotsavam and on June 26- Astadalapada Padmaradhana, Kalyanotsavam, Unjal seva, Arjita Brahmotsavam and Vasantotsavam. All the Tomala seva and Archana sevas will be conducted in Ekantham.
