New Token system for booking rooms in Tirumala from Tuesday

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) EO Anil Kumar Singhal who has made his mark with various developmental activities on Tuesday introduced new registration system for booking accommodation at Tirumala. The new system, which will be implemented from July 12, will provide the pilgrims the much-needed relief from the gruelling hours they spend in their pursuit of securing accommodation. Ten counters were created for this purpose in CRO at Tirumala.

Soon after arriving in Tirumala, the pilgrims should register their names by furnishing their mobile numbers and a copy of the Aadhaar card at one of the 10 counters being specially set up for the purpose at the TTD’s Central Reception Office. They will receive an SMS if the allotment is confirmed and the pilgrim will be allotted room. As soon as the pilgrim gets the message he will have to the room within half an hour paying the requisite amount otherwise, the accommodation will go to next person in the series automatically.

This registration will be opened in two slots at 6 am and 2 pm with 1400 rooms in each slot. The rooms will be categorised into two, with tariffs ranging between Rs.50 to Rs.250 and those between Rs.500 to Rs.1000.

EO AK Singhal said the Token system has been introduced to avoid long waiting hours by the pilgrims in the serpentine queues for accommodation. However, Pilgrims are of the opinion that this system is too complicated.
