Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam performed in Srivari Temple

The ‘Koil Alwar Thirumanjanam’ was performed on Tuesday, 11th of July 2017 at the hill temple of Lord Venkateswara amidst great religious ecstasy in connection with the Anivara Asthanam as a prelude scheduled for July 16.

Koil Alwar means ‘Holy Shrine’. The main purpose of performing koil Thirumanjanam is purification of sanctum sanctorum and temple premises. Soon after the completion of the Suprabatha Seva, TTD management halted the darshan and covered the main idol of the presiding deity with a water-proof cover inside the sanctum sanctorum. The entire garbhagraham, including floors, ceilings and walls are then cleaned and brushed well with plenty of water.

A herbal paste containing a rich mixture of high-quality sandalwood powder, refined camphor, turmeric and other herbal ingredients with aromatic flavours are applied to all the walls and pillars inside the sanctum as well as at all the sub-temples inside the main complex. The covering of the main deity is then removed and the deities, deepam and other articles are taken inside. Purificatory pujas and Naivedyams are the offered to the deity.

A big contingent of over 450 employees under the stewardship of the TTD EO Anil Kumar Singhal and other member trustees participate in the cleansing festival that lasts for more than four hours.
