Chaturmasya Deeksha commenced in Tirumala by Pontiffs

The pontiffs of Tirumala, HH Tirumala Sri Pedda Jiyangar Swamy and HH Sri Chinna Jiyar Swamy received with the traditional temple honours in Tirumala on Sunday in connection with the commencement of their Chaturmasya Deeksha.

TTD EO Sri Anil Kumar Singhal along with Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju received them at main entrance of the temple on their arrival at Mahadwaram. Later the holy person duo had darshan of Lord Venkateswara.

After darshan speaking to media outside the temple, EO said, Chaturmasya Vrata Deeksha is being observed every year by seers of Tirumala for the welfare of the mankind. “This will last for four months and they observe Japa, Tapa, Dhyana with utmost devotion and dedication”, he added.

On Chaturmasya Vrata Deeksha the seers said, the deeksha is in vogue as per the tradition of Sri Ramanujacharya Parampara. We have been continuing it for the welfare of the humanity”, they added.

Elaborating further on Astabandhana Balalaya Maha Samprokshanam, the seers of Tirumala said that this religious fete is observed once in every 12 years for the longevity of the presiding deity and seeking the prosperity of the universe. We have successfully carried ot out in 1982,1994,2006 and will be observed in the same manner this year also”, they asserted.

Chief Priest Sri Venugopala Deekshitulu, Temple DyEO Sri Harindranath, VGO Sri Ravindra Reddy, Peishkar Sri Ramesh were also present.
