On the fifth day of Srivari Navaratri Brahmotsavam Tuesday Sri Malayappa blessed devotees on Garuda vahanam. CJ of High Court Sri Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheswari was present at Vahana Seva.
In view of Covid-19 restrictions the utsava idol of Sri Malayappa Swamy mounted atop the bejewelled golden Garuda Vahanam was held in ekantham within the temple complex.
The speciality of this event is that the utsava idol is adorned with very rare and precious jewels like Makarakanti, Saligrama haram and Lakshmi haram worn by Mula Virat, whose history is rooted deep in the temple legends.
Legends say that Garuda or the Eagle is the main and daily vehicle of Lord Vishnu.As the Key watcher of happenings around Lord Vishnu, Garuda also supervises the course of the entire Srivari Brahmotsavam. Garuda functions as a servant, friend, life supporter, insignia,and flag of lord Venkateswara’s vehicle.
Garuda Seva is prominent in 108 countries around the globe including the Asian and South Asian countries and even widely watched with great reverence even in the countries like Myanmar, Malaysia and Indonesia.
